About Our Preschool
Early childhood education has never mattered more. Families want a place where children feel safe, supported, and inspired — a place that nurtures curiosity while preparing young learners for elementary school and beyond. At The Learning Express Preschool, that’s exactly what we provide.
Children learn best when they feel secure, engaged, and encouraged to explore. Our program blends constructive, activity‑based learning with a developmentally appropriate academic curriculum, giving every child the foundation they need to grow into confident, capable learners. We emphasize cognitive development, language and literacy, social skills, creativity, and emotional growth — all wrapped in a whole lot of fun.
For 30 years, The Learning Express Preschool has been an active part of the Plymouth‑Canton community. We are a privately owned, play‑based preschool housed within The First United Methodist Church in Plymouth, Michigan — a warm, welcoming space where children feel at home.
OUR PHILOSOPHY & MISSION
Everything in our little school has a purpose.
Your child will thrive in our nurturing environment, surrounded by other children to socialize and play with. They will learn the fundamentals that prepare them for elementary school, with the support of caring teachers and educators whose goal is to see your child succeed!
Our Educational Philosophy:
Nurturing lifelong learners with confidence, creativity, and joy.
How We Differ From Public Schools:
Small Class Sizes
Our low student‑to‑teacher ratios mean more attention, more support, and a more connected learning environment.
Personalized Curriculum
We customize learning for each child using six nationally recognized pre‑K curricula. Because we’re not tied to one mandated program, we can teach in the way that best fits your child.
Direct Access to Staff
You get immediate, personal communication with the people who work with your child every day — no layers, no delays.
No Standardized Testing
We focus on real learning and growth, not test scores. Children explore, discover, and build skills without pressure.
A Unique Daily Model
Academics in the morning; large‑motor play, sports, outdoor time, community building, and FUN all afternoon.
Weekly Enrichment
Music, STEM challenges, art instruction, and limited, purposeful technology — all designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
OUR PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
From early preschool to kindergarten, at The Learning Express Preschool, your child will engage in constructive activity-based learning that focuses on a developmentally appropriate academic curriculum. We provide a solid foundation of academics and fun, emphasizing cognitive development, social and emotional skills, creativity, language, and literacy.

Yes. The Learning Express Preschool is fully licensed through the State of Michigan. We meet or exceed all state requirements for health, safety, staffing, and early childhood education standards. Our licensing ensures that our classrooms, curriculum, and daily practices follow strict guidelines designed to keep children safe and support high‑quality learning.
How do you keep children safe?
Our building remains locked during class hours, visitors must show ID, and only authorized adults may pick up children. We conduct regular emergency drills and follow all state licensing and safety regulations.

Classrooms are sanitized daily and throughout the day. Children wash hands frequently, and all materials and surfaces are disinfected regularly.
How do you handle illness or symptoms during the school day?
If a child shows signs of illness while at school, our staff will contact families right away. Children who develop a fever, vomiting, persistent coughing, or other symptoms that may indicate contagious illness will rest in a supervised area until they can be picked up. We follow state health guidelines for when children may return to school to help keep our classrooms healthy.
